Creating Meaningful Impacts
Bharathan Medical Foundation is the brainchild of Arjun Bharathan. His chronic kidney disease turned to kidney failure in 2021. During his visits to the hospital for dialysis, he witnessed the suffering and challenges faced by kidney failure patients, especially those from poor socio-economic backgrounds. He was particularly moved by children who couldn’t afford a transplant surgery despite having a live donor (a family member). He believed that children should be given a ‘shot at life’ and no child should have to face death for want of money for his/ her transplant surgery.
He started work on the formation of the Foundation in April 2022 to help patients from low-income families, especially children, who were battling kidney failure. Unfortunately, Arjun passed away on 7th May 2022 during his dialysis session due to a cardiac arrest.

ARJUN BHARATHAN
(July 20, 1969 - May 7, 2022)
A corporate honcho and Harvard Business School alumni, Arjun was a visionary, an outstanding leader, a friend for all seasons, a complete family man and a fierce champion of the underdog. While battling his own serious health complications, he raised Rs. 3,50,000 for a 17 year old teenager who needed a transplant and whose mother had matched as a donor.
Arjun’s family and friends have come together to create a lasting legacy in his memory. We look forward to your support to create an organisation which allows thousands of kidney failure patients find a ray of hope in their bleak lives.
“Empathy, speed and responsiveness will be the leitmotif of Bharathan Medical Foundation” is the philosophy on which Arjun started the Foundation. We will continue on the path he started.
